Delete your account

You can delete your SmartCommute SG-MY account and everything attached to it from inside the app. This page says exactly what that removes, what it leaves behind, and why.

From inside the app

  1. Open SmartCommute SG-MY.
  2. Go to More, then your Profile.
  3. Choose Delete Account and confirm.

Deletion runs immediately and your sign-in is removed when it finishes. If any step fails, nothing is half-removed and your account stays signed in so you can try again — we would rather retry than leave you with an account that has lost its profile.

If you cannot open the app

Email causewaysmartcommute@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, or tell us the nickname shown on your profile. We will confirm before deleting anything, and again once it is done.

What is removed

All of the following are deleted and are not recoverable.

Your profile
Nickname, avatar, notification token and platform.
Notification preferences
Which community notifications you asked for.
Your notification history
Including who replied to you, and when.
Your stats
Reports submitted, and crossings completed each way.
Avatar unlocks
Which avatars you had earned.
Your block list
Everyone you had blocked.
Queue watches
Any saved watch, so nothing keeps notifying you afterwards.
Price alerts
Any alert attached to your account, for the same reason.
Legacy trip rows
Older per-user trip records, where any remain.

What is kept, and why

None of the following identifies you. Deleting it would remove other people's data or the measurements the whole service is built on.

Traffic and crossing measurements
Journey times, camera readings and queue estimates. These describe the road, carry no account identifier, and are what the forecasts are built from.
Community content you posted
Reports and comments stay, detached from your account. Removing them would delete replies and votes belonging to other people.
Aggregate counters
Totals such as how many reports a zone received. They are sums, not records about a person.

What we cannot delete yet

Two things are not reached by the automatic deletion. We would rather write them down than let this page imply a promise the code does not keep. Ask us by email and we will remove them by hand.

A hashed identifier on older fuel-check reports
Some older reports carry a one-way hash of your account id. We do not clear it yet, because the way it is currently produced would require treating a value published in the app as a server key. Fixing that is a change to how new reports are written, and it is on the list.
Votes on individual comments
A vote records only its type and time; the voter is the document name. That shape cannot be searched by account id, so these are not reached by the automatic deletion.

How long it takes

Deletion is immediate. Backups taken before you deleted your account roll off on their own schedule and are never used to restore a deleted account.
